2020 Dog Writers of America Association Selects Happy-Go-Doodle’s Founder as a Writing Competition Finalist

January 8, 2020 – Dog Writers Association of America, the most recognized professional writing association devoted to dogs, announced finalists for its annual writing competition that honors excellence in writing and publishing.

For the second year, Jenise Carl, founder of HappyGoDoodle.com, was selected as a finalist for the Fidose of Reality Dog Blogger Award for best non-corporate dog blogger. The selected article, Cornstarch for Matted Dog Hair: A Heck of a Hack, educates Goldendoodle parents on fear-free grooming care.

In 2019, Carl was a finalist for her article, Searching for How to Trim Your Dog’s Nails? Try This, in the special awards category. Additionally, Carl was a finalist for three dog health and wellness articles she co-authored with integrative veterinarian Dr. Julie Buzby. She attended the 2019 DWAA awards banquet held near New York City where the winners were announced. Carl received the Maxwell medallion award for the winning article she co-authored with Buzby for the category of “Best Online Article-Rescue.”

“It’s an honor to be recognized for doing something that I love,” Carl says.

This year, the DWAA awards banquet and ceremony will be held virtually on February 14, 2021. The DWAA writing competition is designed to honor excellence in writing and other forms of media including podcasts and photography. This year almost 1,000 entries were received for the juried competition.

The DWAA was founded in 1935 and has grown to over 500 in membership.

Happy-Go-Doodle’s Founder Is Selected as a Finalist for 2019 DWAA Writing Competition

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

DECEMBER 2, 2019 – Dog Writers Association of America, the premier professional writing association devoted exclusively to dogs, recently announced finalists for the 2019 DWAA writing competition. Jenise Carl, founder of HappyGoDoodle.com, was selected as a finalist for The Fidose of Reality Dog Blogger Award for best dog product review. If selected from the three finalists for this honor, Carl (and her Goldendoodle Chloe) will receive a $300 cash prize and trophy. Additionally, Carl was also nominated for three dog health and wellness articles that she co-authored with integrative veterinarian Dr. Julie Buzby.

Designed to honor excellence in writing about all aspects of dogs (health, human-animal bond, rescue, breed-specific, and more) the DWAA competition is open to both professional and amateur writers, publishers, photographers, and editors. The competition culminates and winners are announced at the annual banquet and award ceremony in New York City on the evening prior to the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. This year, there were over 1,000 entries submitted to the competition. The entries are judged by industry professionals and not by popular vote.

Founded in 1935, the DWAA has a membership of over 500 journalists, writers, photographers, poets, authors, and veterinarians focused on all aspects of the dog world.  

“It’s an honor to be named as a finalist among so many industry experts and professional colleagues with a shared goal to promote the well-being of dogs. ” Carl says. “Whether or not we win, writing professionally has given me the opportunity to work side-by-side with my inspiration, my Goldendoodle dog Chloe.”

Designed to honor the best of the best in
the pet blogging and pet social media influencer world, 56 finalists in 14 categories have been selected by a panel of industry professionals. The 14 winners will be selected by judges based on creativity, expertise, and performance in their respective categories. These are the only pet industry awards on which pet bloggers and pet social media influencers are judged on the expertise, performance, and creativity of the entry. Each category is judged by a distinguished panel of professionals, and not by popular vote.

BlogPaws hosted its first pet-friendly social media and marketing conference in 2010 and has grown into the biggest social media event and conference of its kind with attendees from all over the world.

Winners will be revealed in an exclusive red-carpet ceremony at the ninth pet-friendly BlogPaws Annual Conference ( www.blogpaws.com), taking place May 18 through May 20 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina at the Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center Hotel.
