Fresh Wave Product Review: Ahhhh…breathe in the happy!

Happy-Go-Doodle Chloe and I both love the smell of good things, but we don’t always agree on what that might be. The smell of a morning rain makes me happy. The smell of mud and earthworms just after a rain makes Chloe happy. I love the smell of fresh laundry. Chloe loves the smell of a stinky sock that’s been hiding in the crevice of the laundry hamper for weeks. You see where I’m going with this.

So when I chatted with the Fresh Wave brand team during the BlogPaws Pet Blogging and Social Media conference last month, I was happy to hear about their odor eliminating products.

What was it about Fresh Wave that interested me?

As a mom, keeping my kids safe has always been number one. The same is true for me as a pet parent. No matter the age of my kiddos or my kiddoodle dog, my motherly instincts never fade. Hearing that Fresh Wave products are made from natural ingredients and are safe for my family (including Chloe) was reassuring. That’s why I decided to welcome Fresh Wave natural odor removing products into our home, to try them out, and to share our views with you.

WE WELCOMED FRESH WAVE PRODUCTS INTO OUR HOME

Chloe and I reviewed three Fresh Wave products:

• Odor Removing Spray
• Odor Removing Gel
• Odor Removing Pet Shampoo

We were excited to get started. I sprayed some Fresh Wave Natural Odor Removing Spray into the hallway. I loved the scent.

What does Fresh Wave smell like?

For me, the saying “a picture is worth a thousand words” applied. So I set out to photograph the products in an outdoor setting to give you a feel for the woodsy-with-a-hint-of-cloves scent.

It had rained the morning Chloe and I took pics. Raindrops clung to the pine needles on the trees and the sun added a sparkle. It was the perfect backdrop to convey the airy, light scent of Fresh Wave products. Chloe’s sense of smell (like all dogs) is tens of thousands times better than mine. I wondered if she could pick out each of the natural ingredients (cedar wood, cloves, lime, pine, aniseed, and water) in Fresh Wave.

After taking photos, Chloe and I put the products to use. The spray was an easy way to spritz away wet dog smells, stinky shoe smells (Sorry, Chloe. I know you love ’em!), even kitchen cooking smells.

Where did I use the spray?

I kept it handy and spritzed…

• the rug
• the air
• Chloe’s favorite chair
• our shoes
• our clothes
• above stinky toes 🙂

A spray or two and the odor seemed to disappear…without leaving that “odor-cover-upper” fragrance. How’d it do that? Here’s how Mary from Fresh Wave described it to me:

“Fresh Wave products are made with natural ingredients and actually remove odors rather than covering them up with toxic fragrances or masking agents. Because Fresh Wave products contain no fragrances or harsh chemicals, they’re safe for the whole family (including fur family).”

I placed the gel container on the kitchen counter by the back door and near the kitchen sink. (The container comes with a foil cover and a slotted lid. Remove the foil, replace the lid, and let it work. The gel disappears as it evaporates and should last for 30 to 60 days.) After using it for over two weeks, I’ve been pleased that a whiff of  “wet dog” hasn’t greeted us when we walk in the door.

Using the pet shampoo was a splash of fun. The first thing I noticed was that the shampoo bottle was sealed for protection. It’s a little detail, but I like knowing that I’m the first one to open the bottle.

As I gave Chloe a bath, I liked the shampoo’s smell. (To me, it was fresh and minty.) The shampoo had a nice lather and was easy to rinse out. I groom Chloe myself, so I’ve learned to keep ahead of tangles with frequent brushing. While I wouldn’t say the shampoo made a difference in managing tangles, her hair felt soft and clean.

According to the label, the shampoo removes skunk odors. Chloe has never encountered a skunk, but we go on adventures in the country and on the farm. I’ve always wondered what I would do if Chloe wanted to make friends with a skunk. Now I have a solution!

What did we decide?

After trying the products, Chloe and I were impressed. We were glad we could say “hello” to freshness in our home.

What did we enjoy most about Fresh Wave?

• NATURAL ingredients…water and plant oils. So simple and pure.
• SAFE for Chloe and my family.  (Non-toxic. No harsh chemicals. Non-hazardous. A safety win!)
• REFRESHING, light scent.
