We’re Not Lyin’! Goldendoodles Look Like Lions
If you’re a Goldendoodle lover, you’re probably familiar with the lion cut that’s a popular grooming style for Goldendoodles.
That’s why “We’re Not Lyin’ We Look Like Lions” is the next category of Halloween costumes for Goldendoodles.
For more inspiration, here are some famous lions from pop culture:
- Simba from the Lion King
- The Cowardly Lion from The Wizard of Oz
Chewbacca and Star Wars Halloween Costumes
Goldendoodles look so much like characters out of Star War movies that many Goldendoodle parents have lovingly named their little fluffy puppers Star Wars Dog names inspired by the timeless movies.
That’s why our next favorite category of Halloween costumes perfect for Goldendoodles is “Your Doodle as the Star in Star Wars.”

- A wookie

Here are some ready-made dog Halloween costumes for you…

Whether you’re looking for a costume for your two Doods or you’re planning a costume for you and your Doodle, here are some other famous “pairs” that are perfect for Goldendoodles:

Pop Culture Cuties
Goldendoodles have so much personality! That’s why we included Halloween costumes inspired by famous characters with big personalities.
Our next category, PUP Culture Cuties, is a nod to the Doodle’s famously big personality. Plus, you can take your dog’s costume to the next level with fun names like “Hairy Potter.”
Classic Halloween Characters
We can’t overlook traditional Halloween costumes as a perfect match for our Goldendoodles. After all, Doodle dogs are the cutest pumpkins in the patch.
Check out these classic Halloween icons for your Doodle dog. Also, for easier alternatives to costumes, we’ve included easy-to-wear dog bandanas, a dog sweater, and a dog pumpkin hoodie.

BTW…the pumpkin hoodie costume Sadie is wearing in the photo above, is a size XXL. She is 40 pounds and it was snug on her. The XXL is the largest size available, so this costume is not for large dogs. We would recommend this costume for dogs under 40 pounds.
Just for Fun…and Funny
This next category of Halloween costume ideas is titled “Just for Funny” because Goldendoodles are both fun..and funny.
Sports
Since the beginning of fall also kicks off the beginning football season, we included football as our final category of Halloween costume ideas for Goldendoodle dogs.
Our own Goldendoodle sports her Kansas City Chiefs gear complete with a Patrick Mahomes headband during football season. Plus, our Goldendoodles love being part of the team!

Dog Halloween costume sizing tips
Finally, figuring out the correct size costume may be more “trick” than “treat” for pet parents. But it’s essential for finding a comfortable fit.
To choose a proper fit, you’ll probably need to measure your dog’s chest, neck, body length, weight, and head. We measured both our Goldendoodles before purchasing the costumes they are modeling in this article.
7 tips for keeping your dog safe at Halloween
Before you head out with your pupper this Halloween, please remember to be safe and keep your dog safe during the festivities.
Our motto? Safety first and happiness will follow. Here are a few helpful Halloween safety tips for doggos:
- Don’t wait till the last minute to don the Halloween costume on your dog. Plan ahead and give your dog time to try out wearing a costume at least a few days in advance. It may not be your dog’s thing.
- Costumes should not block a dog’s vision or interfere with a dog’s ability to breathe.
- Avoid costumes with buttons, tags, or accessories that may be a choking hazard. Also, some dogs may chew on the costume and ingest it, which may mean a scary trip to the emergency vet.
- Choose comfy over constricting. A dog should feel comfortable in the costume and it should not constrict mobility or be too tight.
- Keep the human treats out of paws’ reach from your dogs. Many Doodle dogs are excellent counter surfers, so remember to keep the human candy, which may contain chocolate or xylitol, well out of reach of your pupper.
- If having visitors come to your door is stressful for your dog, consider creating a comfy space for your doggo away from the activity.
- Enjoy capturing the moment, but don’t stress your dog by overdoing on photos. For tips on taking pics of your dog, check out my article on how to take cute photos of your dog.
