Old fashioned dog names. Classic girl dog names. Vintage dog names. Cute old lady dog names. How ever you describe the names that harken back to a bygone era, these old-timey girl names are new again. Not only as baby names, but also for our fur babies! (It makes sense since our dogs are part of the family.)
In fact, according to the latest survey from Rover.com, dog owners are more likely than cat owners to name their furry pals a retro or classic dog name.

101 Old Fashioned Dog Names for Girl Puppy Cuteness
In the spirit of old-timey days, Happy-Go-Doodle Chloe (my Goldendoodle sidekick) and I have compiled a list of 101 vintage names for your girl puppy. (And 101 old fashioned names for your boy puppy.)
The list of old-fashioned girl names below were popular before Instagram and cell phones and even before drive-thrus and microwave ovens.
Old-timey girl names have a throwback feel and are adorable. We hope there is an old fashioned dog name in the list below that is as perfect as your new puppy.

Tips for choosing the best name for your dog
There’s nothing cuter than a pup’s head tilt when he hears his dog mom or dad call his name.
But what name works best from your puppy’s viewpoint? Here are four things to consider as you choose your old fashioned dog name:
1. Your dog may prefer a two-syllable name! Dog experts recommend two-syllable names because they allow for more inflection and emotion. (With a few exceptions, all the old-timey girl names listed below have two syllables.)

2. Avoid names that sound similar to cues or commands. It’s easier for a puppy to learn and respond when her own name doesn’t sound like something she’s learning to do—”stay” and “Stacy,” for example.
3. Say the name out loud to see how it rolls off the tongue. Does it fit your dog’s personality?

4. Sleep on it! See if the old-timey girl name you’ve chosen “fits” your pup’s personality over time. And if it does not seem quite right, you might want to try one of our other dog name lists: 250 dog names ending in y, 111 red dog names, best Goldendoodle dog names, or 101 adorable Goldendoodle names for all types of dogs and doods.

"Tula" is such a cute name! Since Happy-Go-Doodle Chloe and I have not had any quilting adventures, we did a little Google investigation and it looks like your Sproodle's name is inspired by Tula Pink, maybe? Her quilting fabrics are so bright and colorful! We wish you many fun days of quilting with your sweet Sproodle by your side. Doodle kisses and tail wags!

We named our new dog Hattie. My great-grandmother's name was Hattie and as a child, I thought it was a horrible name. Now I love it! We are still looking for a good middle name for our little Hattie girl!
